It was extremely hot in our waiting area...we stripped the little man down. I was thinking about doing the same, but didn't think God would think that was humerous ;)
I'm short on time, so I'll TRY to keep this a short summary of recent events...Friday morning, Brian finds Payton naked in bed. Really naked. She had stripped her jammies off (footie ones with a zipper, which was only unzipped to her chest. We are still trying to figure that out). No diaper. She stood up smiling and proud. Saturday, we took the kids swimming at Marion Diehl indoor pool. It was Griffin's first time in the water, and he LOVED it. Smiled the entire time. Floated on his back almost all by himself, and didn't mind going under at all. Not even a wimper. Payton has regressed a little. She wasn't as happy about going under and swimming as she was this past summer. We definitely need to get them to the pool more often. She still was able to swim several feet alone, but the highlight for her was playing in the baby pool. We set up our flip camera (video) on a tripod so we could get Griffin's first time in the pool recorded, and since we were both in the water, we couldn't take pictures. I'll try to figure out how to get a portion of that video posted sometime. Sunday Griffin was baptized at Sardis Presbyterian Church. Both Payton and Griffin did great! It was a special day! While we were waiting for our time to go into the church, Payton enjoyed sitting in the chapel watching the Sunday service on the big screen....she especially liked the music. Jewel Leslie, Laura Ann Leslie Stewart's mother (LA is one of my longest, dearest childhood friends) was the elder for Griffin's baptism. They were having a fall festival after church, and Payton got to jump in a big bounce house! Grandmommy and Granddude came over to Granby and Grump's, afterwards, for lunch. They stayed through Monday to keep the kids, and they took us all out to dinner at Hickory Tavern Monday night. Tuesday we met up with Katie Guthrie and her 5 week old daughter, Geoffery Olive "Livy." The Deutschle's also met us out at Cantina. They have 3 girls (Livy's cousins) who all loved helping out and playing with Payton. Anna and Sophie will be GREAT babysitters for the kids! This past Saturday was the annual Qamp Boughman, also known as "BeerBQamp." We played kickball, ate BBQ, and had a giant bonfire. The kids enjoyed Raegan's swingset, sandbox, and Carter's bounce house. Payton LOVES to go down the slide headfirst (that's my girl!) and then she pretty much faceplants only to get up, climb the ladder, and do it again. It made for some really cute pictures though. The dogs were so worn out we didn't see them move on Sunday...not even to eat their food sprinkled with bacon!! Yes, THAT worn out! Sunday, I found Payton naked in her crib again...this time with a diaper still on. She thinks it's hillarious and said "Oh no!" when I walked in her room. Later, we had a cookout with our neighbor, Drew, then went down to Mark's house and watched some football. Payton and Madi played together. Wednesday, Granby and I are attempting to take both kids to the Southern Christmas Show. Should be a challenge! I told you we are BUSY!!!
Quick update on the kids: At 19 months, Payton's newest accomplishments: she is talking up a storm. Pointing and saying what everything is. She counts to 10, skipping some numbers in between, and tries to sing her ABC's. She says "I want..." and then whatever she wants. Yesterday she said "I want nap." Wow. Pretty cool! She is pooping on the potty. 3 days in a row she has told me "poo poo" and then when I sit her on the potty, sure enough! Now we need to work on tinkling on the potty, but this is a GREAT start! I haven't changed a poopie diaper all weekend! Payton also knows how to unlock my iPhone and find her games on it...she loves to play Crash Kart, a race car driving game. She's too funny steering my phone like it's a car! Griffin, now 3 months old, is still just smiley and LOVES football. Like, the child will break his neck to see the TV. He has definitely found his hands and sucks and chews on them all the time. I'm not sure if he's starting to teethe, or just excited to have something to chew on. Payton's first two (bottom) teeth broke through before she was 4 months, so who knows...he's getting really strong and can hold himself up really well. He's doing great in the exersaucer, and can hold himself sitting up, with pillows around him.
Granby starts keeping BOTH kids today. Monday. So, we wish her luck :) Payton is in Mothers' Morning Out from 9-1, and I'm there by 2:15-2:30 to get them, so hopefully it won't be too tough on her. We are SO lucky to have her keeping them, and Payton just LOVES pulling up to Granby and Grump's house!
As always, enjoy the pictures! And the video below...of Griffin waking up one morning. He's such a happy baby boy! This was a few weeks ago, but I'm trying to learn how to post videos and become a more efficient and tech-savvy blogger!
