Payton talking on the phone to Daddy
At She-She's farm...VERY excited to feed the goats and donkeys!
Big guy on the fence is "George W"
She would giggle every time the goat took the bread from her hand
Lucas (4 1/2) and Payton(21 months) quickly became the best of buds!
Payton's highlight was chasing the "kitty cats" around the house
Our beautiful daughter
Locking up the farm...one can't be too careful these days ;)
Handsome little man!! He was watching the football game...of course!
Cuddling on Daddy's shoulder
Griffin and Callie...she makes a great pillow!
But he wanted to try Emma out also...she makes an even better pillow since she sits still longer!
And so it begins....the fight for the remote control
My BIG GIRL bed! She was SO excited!
And out like a light...WITH her thumb in her mouth. Grrrrr..... :) At least she's doing well in her bed and doing much better with potty training! 2 out of 3 "ain't" bad!
Where's Griffin?
There he is!!
Look Mom, no hands!!
I love my baby brother!! Payton helps with bottles, diapers, cleaning up, and so much more!
Big girl bed at Granby's! She LOVES it...and still sleeps like a champ!
What a handsome little man :) Already 5 Months old!
Taking his antibiotics after enjoying some squash and cereal...little man had his first ear infection, but didn't complain at all.
Playing with her new "doggy bank." Each time a coin is dropped in, it barks and wiggles its ears. Payton's reaction is priceless...
Yum!
Jammie Day! PJ's all day :)
Crashed...
Already teaching her brother how to use Mommy's iPhone. They sure start young these days!
Ready for our dinner party...70 degrees. A porch wine kind of afternoon!
Playing on his tummy time mat that Britt gave to Griffin...or "working out." It helps strengthen his neck and back muscles.
The girls eating at Payton's new table, which is FANTASTIC! Thanks Granby and Grumps!
The Gang! And it looks like someone has a little crush on little man!
Note: the windows are open. January 7th, 2012...sun is down. Crazy!
Griffin blowing raspberries. Over, and over, and over again! Trust me, this creates a LOT of slobber, but it's oh, so cute! We aren't positive that Griffin will ever grow any hair or teeth ;)
Griffin and his younger girlfriend, Camryn...what will Raegan think?
With his "BB"
The girls enjoying some porch juice and crackers before dinner...
Madi was a big help!
Brian's "ice pack."
The weather has been kooky around Charlotte, and evidently most of the US. Very unseasonably warm weather...it was 65-70 degrees for over a week straight in Charlotte, in early January, and some of the trees are in bloom! We've been trying to take advantage of this nice weather, before it inevitably turns cold! Yet I'm actually looking forward to a little cold weather...maybe even a few snow flurries?? We're heading back to the mountains soon for a snowboard trip, so some of the white stuff would help! It did turn much cooler over this past weekend, and it snowed in the mountains, but the warm weather is on the horizon, yet again :( I'm all for it AFTER I get to snowboard for the first time in 2 years! Hmph!
Since our New Year's trip to the mountains, we've been taking it easy. Nothing too exciting, except, Payton moved into her BIG GIRL BED a couple weeks ago at Granby's, so we decided to break her crib down into her toddler bed, as she's ready...but mommy isn't! Just one more small step toward her independence (and teenage years...lol!) We did this on Friday, and she LOVED it. She was so proud of her bed, and slept, as usual, really, really well. Also, she's learned, but not yet perfected, the somersault/front roll. It's pretty funny to watch, and she's so darn proud of herself when she does it. Britt, Dan, Madi, Cheryl, Jeremy, Raegan, Camryn, Greg, Rob, Brittany, and Daniel (yes we have 2 married sets of friends with the same names) came over a couple of weekends ago for dinner. This was the same weekend that Brian got "snipped." I decided that if we couldn't "go to the party" that we'd just bring it to us. Brian did fine with the surgery, but has been, and still is, in some pain and having discomfort. Let's just say our friends are a little apprehensive about coming over for dinner anytime soon, as most of our frozen veggie bags were, at some point, shoved down Brian's pants...lol!
Nana and Granddude flew into Charlotte from visiting Great Granddude and Gigi in Denver last Thursday. It was a quick visit. They took us out to eat at City Tavern, and both kids were great, and so was dinner! Yay! They'll be back this week to help watch the kids on Thursday, giving Granby a little break.
And, we were on the news last week! Where we live, we're on well water with a company who price gauges us for completely undrinkable water (although they say it's safe). It has become increasingly bad over the past month, ruining our dishes, and who knows what it's doing to our skin, hair, and clothes. So, I took it to the next level, as our phone calls and complaints to the water company have done no good. I sent an email in with some pictures of our "clean" dishes to News 36, and I was immediately contacted and asked if they could film my story...here's a link to the news clip:
So, after watching that, and hearing about all our veggies down Brian's pants, anyone want to come over for dinner? HAHAHAHA! In all seriousness, we do hope Carolina Water makes this right! They did pay us a couple visits over the weekend and let us know that the water hardness was up due to something clogging something (I didn't understand much of what they were saying, but they have unblocked whatever it was). This is something that is not checked on routine, so they say there was no way they could have known this was a problem (um, hello? What about all the neighbor's phone calls and messages complaining?) Anyway, we have a little better water now, and Cheri, with whom I work, told us about this stuff called "Lemishine." We put this in with the dishwashing detergent, and BAM! Our dishes look *almost* new again. Thanks for the tip, Cheri!!
Saturday was a yucky day...I had some sort of flu, beginning with stomach pains and cramping, ending with chills and body aches all day. Most of my day was spent in bed, but I did manage to make it upstairs to watch my Pats squash Tim Tebow and his Broncos. We're glad the "Tebowing" era has come to an end...at least for this season. Sunday I felt much better and managed to get a 7 mile run in with some friends, and make up for errands I wasn't able to do on Saturday. We were supposed to have some people over for the games, but had to cancel...we'll make up for it everyone. I promise :)
On Sunday afternoon we visited Shiela "She She" and Thomas at their farm in Gastonia. Payton got to feed the goats, donkeys, chickens, and even some kitty cats, which were her favorite. Griffin was napping, so he missed all the animal fun. Payton kicked the soccer ball around with Lucas (my friend Stacy's 4 1/2 year old son), and they had a great time playing together! We had dinner and watched the Giants beat up on the Packers...proving once again, anything can happen in the playoffs! Sunday morning, Payton woke up with a very swollen right ring finger. We have NO idea what happened to it, as it was fine when she went to bed Saturday night. Brian is off work Monday, so he is going to take her in to see how we should treat it. She is moving it, and since it's not purple, I don't believe it's broken. She's a tough cookie! Maybe it was from too many high five's during our Patriots' game Saturday night :)
Griffin, still growing like a weed, is having fun eating his veggies and rice cereal. Granby wondered why he GOBBLED down a whole serving of cereal and "sweet potatoes" when she looked at the container again and saw it was peach cobbler...too funny! That's the only "non-veg" food he's had, other than the cereal. He's getting better at eating off a spoon, but still has a way to go before he's a pro. The newest accomplishment for him was that he slept ALL the way through the night for 3 nights in a row...like 12+ hours. YAY! And he's starting to nap longer, and more regularly. Griffin, almost 19 pounds, already, is becoming increasingly difficult to carry in his car seat. In the next week, or so, we'll be moving him into his "big boy" car seat. Another bittersweet moment and example of growing up too quickly. He has found his tongue, and it's hillarious. He sticks it out, blows raspberries, makes "sucking" sounds and tweaks his lips as he puckers them, and his tongue reaches almost to his chin. He's also really found his thumb, and it looks like we'll have 2 thumb suckers...booo! We've been working on him sitting up, but he's still not quite stable yet. We have been putting toys in front of him, and when he plays, he can sit up straight for a bit, before tumbling to his side. Here is a short video of him blowing raspberries, kind of :)
We are working with Payton on two major things from now until her *gulp* second birthday...not sucking her thumb and potty training. So far, things are going better than I expected. I have threatened to put a band aid on her thumb if I see her sucking it. She HATES band aids, so this tactic seems to be working, except during the night while she's sleeping. I have told her she could suck on one of her fingers instead, which she does, but not nearly as much as if it was her thumb. Then, we've been sitting her on the potty some, when she asks, but not much luck, until over the weekend. We had a BIG success, and again, made a big deal out of it. She is also rewarded, er, bribed, and receives M&M's when she goes. So, big girl bed, potty training, and stopping thumb sucking. Lots of big changes for her! She continues to love books, recognizes & can say almost all 26 letters of the alphabet, and can, at least, count to 10. We haven't heard her "say" anything past that. Also, she's doing pretty well on colors, but they still need some work. Next up...learning shapes!
