Peek-A-Boo?!?! Where are you?
Happy New Year, and welcome 2012!!
Below, Payton is picking out a fine selection for the evening...

Well, like they say, out with the old and in with the new...and just like that, we put away our Christmas decorations, toast with our last glass of NYE champagne, and look forward to what 2012 has in store for the Kugler family. Watching the kids grow up, soak up every bit of new information like sponges, and grow into their personalities has been fun, and we know it's only going to get better!

We spent a long weekend up at Granby and Grump's "Sugar Shack," as it has now been deemed by the sign Santa left for them for Christmas. When we arrived, there were about 2 1/2 inches of snow on the road/driveway...just enough for playing. The forecast was not in favor of snowboarding, and the slopes looked crowded and muddy, so I gave Payton some snowboarding lessons instead:

She LOVED it and wanted to do it again and again. She even "taught" Carter (age 5) how to snowboard. This makes mommy SMILE :)

Our good friends, Stonie, Chris, and Carter Kennington showed up Thursday evening. We met them for dinner at Grump's favorite restaurant...the "Mexican and Fish Restaurant," as he calls it. Later that evening, Grumps joined the fun (Granby decided to stay back in Charlotte, at put away all her many Christmas decorations). We spent the weekend playing games, relaxing, running, shopping, visiting my alma mater, Appalachian State, and playing in the snow, before it all melted. On New Year's Eve, we went to the Grandfather Winery, as it was BEAUTIFUL outside, and was reflected by the large crowd that was also visiting the winery. Grumps loved setting up his impossible croquet course, and Chris, Brian, and Grumps played (as usual, Brian won). Stonie and I watched the kids play, and I "wore" Griffin in the Baby Bjorn. That evening, we had a great dinner, too much wine, if there is such a thing, and a champagne toast at midnight, while watching our seemingly "private" fireworks show on the deck. Sugar Mountain put on the show, and it was the perfect exclamation point to a terrific year!

While in the mountains, Griffin had a pretty bad cold...he was a trooper and didn't complain once. On Saturday when I noticed him pulling at his left ear, I began to get concerned, as I was certain he had an ear infection. With us away from home, and knowing that Monday would have been our first opportunity to get him to his pediatrician, I wanted him to see someone that day. Brian, being the wonderful daddy that he is, took Griffin down to Boone and, after some difficulties, was finally able to find a pediatrician who would see him. He was prescribed amoxicillin and he was told Griffin's cold was not in his chest (which is a GREAT relief!) So, we now have a doctor up there, which makes things easier in case we are ever in this situation again. He seems to be fine now, all smiles, and no more ear pulling. The hoss weighed in at 18 pounds, 5 ounces, and I'm feeling it in my back!

Here is a cute video of Payton playing with her "Doggie Bank" that Granby gave her for Christmas...

Happy New Year to YOU, and thanks for keeping up with the Kuglers in 2012! Brian has a scheduled vasectomy on Friday, so say a little prayer for him that he has a quick recovery. In the meantime, I'll be catering to him, and he'll be a happy boy, watching LOTS of football all weekend.

Upcoming events:

-Late Christmas with the Boughmans
-Pool Day...hopefully Payton hasn't forgotten too much!
-Another mountain trip with the Tisdales...hoping there is LOTS of snow so I can finally get my "fix" and looking forward to teaching Whitt to rip it up :)
-Payton goes to the dentist
-Griffin has his 6 month check up and shots

xoxo
