Doctor's Report on Robert/Bob/Dad/Grumps/Luke

Today was Grump's first post-surgery check up, with his oncologist.  He asked a million questions, as we all would.  Here's the skinny...

Prior to his chemo commencing on Thursday, September 5th (not confirmed, but preferred), they will do another CT scan, and they'll install a port, into his chest.  This is where the 4 types of drugs will go into his body, every other weekend.  Depending on how well he tolerates the chemo, he may be able to drive himself to treatments, and then into the office on Thursdays, and Fridays.  Apparently Saturday is when the fatigue sets in.  So, every other weekend will pretty much suck for him, but it sounds like maybe he'll be able to play ball on the "good" weekends?  Let's hope so!  He'll be taking anti-nausea meds, so hopefully he won't have to deal with puking, or feeling sick.

Since his surgery, NOT EVEN A WEEK AGO, he's been out walking the neighborhood, working (no surprise there), and Mom even had him up on a ladder, fixing a chirping smoke detector (which ended in the fire department paying them a visit...you'll have to ask him all the details about that!) When we asked Payton what happened to Grumps, she said "They cut your belly open, took out all the bad stuff, and left in the good stuff."  Now THAT'S a pretty smart 3 year old, if I do say so myself!

I just wanted to give you all a quick update on Robert/Bob/Dad/Grumps/Luke...however you know him.  He's amazing and we are thankful that things have turned out as well as they have.

Today is Brian and my 5th wedding anniversary.  8.8.8.  Tomorrow is Griffin's 2nd birthday.  It's an unusually busy week for us.  Nana and Granddude are coming to keep the kids tomorrow and tomorrow night so that Brian and I can go out and celebrate.  After dinner out, we'll be at the preseason Panthers/Bears game...guess I'll have to pull for "Da Bears!"

Here's Griffin with his first birthday present, from Granby and Grumps...he hasn't stopped playing with his new Thomas wooden trains and tracks.  He LOVES it!

I can't believe two years have passed since we met our sweet little boy.  I can't believe he's going to be two.  I can't believe how big, smart, funny, loving, and SWEET he is.  He has completed our family in such a way I could have never imagined.  More on his birthday....to come!  Have a nice weekend!
